What’s Your Resolution?

Another year is upon us and it’s time to set your New Year’s fitness resolutions.

Many of us use this time of year to make significant changes to our lifestyles, and we often set goals that we fail to reach, or revert back to our old habits. At Live Streaming Fitness, we want to make sure you are dedicated to living your greatest life.

Smart Goals

With that said, listed below are a few tips to creating SMART goals to help you stick to your fitness resolutions all year long.

Make Your Goals Specific

Your goals should be clear and easy to understand.

Many people set common goals such as, “get healthy.” However, this is too general. It is important to ask yourself, how are you going to do it? Is it losing weight? Start exercising? Stop eating fast food?

Once you become more specific, it will be easier for you to manage your health and fitness goals.

Make Your Goals Measurable

When setting your health and fitness goals, it is crucial to make sure that your goals are measurable.

You want to be able to track your progress, that way you will know when you have reached your goal.

Make Your Goals Attainable

Before you plan out your fitness goals, you may want to consider how high or how low you want to go.

While it is important to try and go above and beyond, you want to make sure your goals aren’t too extreme. According to Kathleen Zelman, director of nutrition for WebMD, 5 -10 percent weight loss is attainable for most overweight people.

Make Your Goals Relevant

In order to make your health and fitness goals attainable, it is vital to set goals that are relevant to your life.

Are you preparing for a marathon? Do you want to fit into a pair of old jeans? Are you going on vacation soon and want to look your best in a bikini? Setting goals that are relevant to your life are going to make the goal easier to attain because you have something to work towards.

Make Your Goal Time-Sensitive

Last but not least, make sure your health and fitness goals have an end-point.

Knowing you have a deadline motivates you to get started. For example, if you want to lose 15 pounds, set your deadline accordingly. Keep in mind, healthy weight loss is about 1-2 pounds per week.
