White & Brown

I am very drawn to brown accents this year, especially paired with a crisp white.

The accent of brown can be used in pinecones, branches, baskets and other natural elements. We all have basic white dinnerware and serving pieces, so adding in new votives or a vase is an easy investment to implement this look.

This trend could also be designed with a more elegant edge by adding in mercury glass or silver, or keeping it completely natural with a forest feeling.

Greens

You have heard a lot about going green, why not for your holiday décor?

The trend to go natural and casual for the holidays is perfect for those of us who feel overwhelmed during the holidays. Bring elements from your garden inside…such as placing small living trees in pots around you home and adding a natural wreath to your mantel.

I also like using a pale palette of greens for this look as it is very calming. Think of using grey green foliage and succulents to achieve this look.

Champagne

Just this title grabs your attention!

The coloration of champagne is the perfect color to use for holiday décor as it blends well with most home interiors. The trend now is a tone on tone approach which gives this look a more modern feel. Think of muted gold tones, which you can blend with muted silvers and cream colored ornaments and mantel decorations.

A continuing trend is also adding in religious icons such as ex-voto hearts and royal crowns.

Traditional Red

Not that it ever went away, but there is a big trend to go back to this basic.

Giving your family and friends a traditional Christmas experience, one that you remember from your childhood, is especially important today. Mixing shades of red, from burgundy to cranberry to bright cherry red, is easy to do with flowers, berries and ornaments.

Once again, you can go with a very elegant and classic approach in your decorations or can easily take it in a more warm casual natural direction.
