Profile: Lauren Howe

Doctoral Candidate, Social Psychology

'm a fifth year doctoral candidate in Social Psychology at Stanford University and the Shaper Family Stanford Interdisciplinary Graduate Fellow.
With my colleagues at Stanford, I work on projects related to improving outcomes in patient-physician interactions, trust in experts, science communication, fear of rejection, and the importance of social connection.
I earned my undergraduate degrees in Psychology and German Language and Literature from the University of Virginia in 2010, where I had the pleasure of working with Jon Haidt and Tim Wilson. After graduating, I spent a year abroad on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Reutlingen, Germany.
