I'm a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, a Junior Research Fellow at Jesus College, and a James Martin Fellow at the Oxford Martin School. I work on a wide range of issues. Current projects include a book on the nature of agency (Tentative title: 'The Shape of Action: Control, Consciousness, Knowledge'), a series of papers on the normative significance of consciousness, and papers on the science of consciousness, knowledge of action, motivation and action, folk psychology and free will, and more.

Octopuses Are Super-Smart: Are They Conscious?

Inky the wild octopus has escaped from the New Zealand National Aquarium. Apparently, he made it out of a small opening in his tank, and suction cup prints indicate he found his way to a drain pipe that emptied to the ocean.
